With Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulatory requirements such as computer system validation (CSV), the "pain" to re-validate an existing system is so great that quite often beneficial system improvements are deferred.

On a recent project involving the delivery of a new powder fill facility, the overall schedule was reduced by 36 days as a result of this process, and over 500 software discrepancies were resolved before commissioning.
