Synopsis of Cut-to-Length Line Drives Controls Project
- Situation: A manufacturer of commercial roofing products purchased a Cut-to-Length Line from an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). The line was made to process steel, copper, aluminum, and lead. Material specifications included material thickness (ranges from 0.024” to 0.120”), material width (ranges from 15” to 60”), and material cut length (varies from 12” to 240”).
- Issue: Optimizing operations of the new line with automation.
- Requirement: A new drive control system designed and developed to optimize Cut-to-Length Line production and provide operators with a user-friendly monitor and control technology platform.

- Brock Solutions' Role: Design, develop, and implement the drives control system. Included supplying all required drives (with the exception of the drive for the leveller) and drive panels, programming all drives and the PLC, programming HMI software, and performing simulation testing of the system to ensure functionality prior to site installation.
- Technology: Allen Bradley 1336 line regeneration package, PowerFlex700S Drives, DriveLogix, ControlNet, Ethernet, AB PanelView+.
