Baggage System Upgrades / Retrofits

Obsolescence of PC computer hardware, software and programmable logic controller (PLC) automation systems require periodic retrofits to newer systems that can be supported and maintained. Since these systems are the “central control” for the entire baggage handling system (BHS), the challenge and risk is how to replace these systems without impacting existing operations.

Brock has a proven approach for zero downtime when performing these system retrofits. Our approach includes:

• Off-site system testing using emulation software
• Off-site factory acceptance tests where our clients test drive and validate the new system
• Installation of the new system in “parallel” with the old system that is reversible at any time during commissioning

Each year, Brock performs several of these obsolescence retrofits with zero downtime and operates as the prime contractor to all required sub-contractors.
